Style Inspiration: A Very Blair Thanksgiving

A while back I wrote a post about Spencer Hastings from Pretty Little Liars, and I thought since thanksgiving is tomorrow that I should hop to it and make this next post in the series about Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl and her Thanksgiving Stylings.  The show always made a big deal about Blair's favorite holiday being Thanksgiving, and some of my favorite outfits of hers came out during the holiday episodes. So here goes: some favorite Blair Waldorf Thanksgiving outfits!

Season1:

This may actually be my favorite outfit of hers in the series, and it premiered so early on!  Her earth-toned lace dress is one of my favorites with its shorter hem line paired with a higher waist line.   I also love the ruffled trim that is both on the edges of the 3/4 length sleeves and the bottom hem of the dress. It's not pictured here, but the hem is about thigh-height.  I also love how it is paired with a simple headband and simple, longer gold beaded necklace to let the dress speak for itself.  The whole outfit is elegant, but both simple and intricate at the same time.  Top it off with the adorable over-jacket that still shows all the detail of the dress, and its perfect!

Costumes of Days Past

In light of Halloween being tomorrow, I thought I'd share with you some of my favorite costumes from over the years.  Most were put together pretty quickly, but they were all fun!

A Hair Story

During the last few years (and by few I apparently mean eight, since some of these pictures date back to high school) my hair has been through many adventures in styling.  For most of my life leading up to high school I had my hair somewhere between waist length and shoulder length, straight, and brown.  My senior year in high school I took a leap and cut it into a pixie cut with some length.  I quite enjoyed this hairstyle, because I could "fluff" my hair like in the pictures below to create some volume.

Exploring Ephraim

It's been a few weeks now since this took place, but its still quite fresh to me and very much on my mind.  A few weeks back, my mother, father, and I traveled up to Ephraim, WI where my grandparents' cottage is.   This place, as well as my other grandparents' cabin, holds many memories from my

A Short Ride to Class

Let's not have any hesitation in featuring this new cardigan I fixed up, shall we?  Here goes:  After posting my inspiration post about Spencer Hastings a bit ago, I realized that I could get a similar look  with some things I already owned (and this cardigan I stumbled into of course)!  I'm loving that

A Trim of Your Own: The Button Switch

Ah, the dreaded missing button.  This is the story of the adorable cardigan who lost a button friend, but it was okay because I went out and got new ones and sewed them on.   Basically, the last time I was up home visiting my parents I happened to go take a trip to Goodwill with my mom and not 60 seconds

How to Add More Mustard to Your Wardrobe [& Your Life]

At some point this spring I remembered just how much I love the color mustard yellow, and went on a mustard binge — if I'm not careful, my whole closet will end up turning this color!  This is of course

Plaid About Fall

If there was an award for most likely fall trend, the plaid shirt would win it almost every time.  Followed, of course, by pumpkin spice lattes and festive halloween socks.  It seems like everyone is the owner of that perfect plaid number, but I've always been hesitant with my plaid button down selection

Style Inspirations: Spencer Hastings of Pretty Little Liars

Though my style is ever-changing, there are some solid style inspirations that I like to draw confidence from, and one of them is  Spencer Hastings from the TV show Pretty Little Liars.  She wears some of the cutest outfits, and is fearless when it comes to print mixing and layering, two of my favorite things :).  I went through season 4 and screen capped three of my favorite outfits that this character wore to share with you.  So here goes!

An Owl of a Time

Red is one of my new favorite pop colors for summer and winter.  It pairs very well with other primary colors and neutrals, like this owl shirt and high-waisted denim jeans.   Throw in a bright red door, and

Where to begin: building an outfit

A new day!  Full of a renewed energy, I hop out of bed and creep down the hall to my wardrobe.  Opening the doors I peer into the sea of colors and fabrics, searching for a stronghold:  Anything catch your eye Linds?  What's inspiring today?  What on earth can I wear???

Building an outfit can be a daunting task.   I work in clothing retail so I constantly find myself struggling over what to put together at 5 in the morning that will reflect some semblance of apparent knowledge of the industry I work in.  When I think ahead I pull things together the night or days before, but its not always that organized of a production.  I could speak at lengths about organizing your closet for easy decision making, but that will be a subject for a later post.

From what I've found, on days that I really want to have a put together outfit (not the days that I throw

Floral and Fringe

Note: I wrote this two weeks back, and am just posting it now as I adjust to all the changes going on with our move.  I hope to be more up to date soon!

Greetings Friends!!

I've been without internet and cable since I moved in, and I have to say that it's been a rather pleasant experience going without.  The move went well, and I'll be sure to share more about the apartment as it takes shape a bit more, but really I've enjoyed this little break from technology.  I've been reading cooking magazines, exploring the neighborhood, checking out some of the great food markets in the area (i.e. Whole Foods and Trader Joe's), and unpacking and organizing/ styling.

Life Update // Winds A Changing

I think it's been a while since I wrote anything on here about updates in my life.  To recap, I've been out of school about a year now and a crazy year it has been!  Last summer was a tumultuous time filled with soul searching and unemployment and a struggle to figure out what felt right.  I think all of life is a constant struggle of figuring out the 'right' answers.  Will this make me happy?  Will this project turn out right if I make decision X?  Will this choice positively influence business?  Will it negatively influence it?  Will I succeed?  Will people like me?  Will I like me?

Last fall I decided to move back down to Champaign after spending the summer in the suburbs with my parents.  I moved in with my boyfriend of five years (six now), got a job in visual merchandising, and

2014 Midway Reflection

Every once and a while I like to take a look back and reflect on the past.  The blog is no different.  I'd like to take this chance to post a recap of the past few months here on the blog.  Transition seasons are some of the most crucial.  When the weather is 80 degrees and sunny one day, and snowing the next, it's hard to figure out what to wear in the morning.  So here's some of my favorite posts so far in 2014.
