Sail on Bye

When I was a kid, I made a day of playing on all these rocks on the beach of my grandparents' cottage.  Many a memory surfaces about the slippery green moss, the smooth rocks a-plenty, and a particularly huge praying mantis that took me by surprise once on an adventure to find a hidden staircase down the beach.  I was always adventurous as a child and I am still.  I want to find all the unique little crevices of a place and revel in their existence.

One of my most persistent memories of this place is waking up to hear the waves of Lake Michigan crashing on the shore of scattered rocks. There's something very calming and magical about the whole scene and its linking to my childhood.

The Outfit and About it:

Urban Outfitters Romper.  Though I don't wear it all the time, this romper is high on the list of my favorite pieces in my closet.  I got it in the wintertime on their sale rack for an unheard of $9, and it is my favorite thing ever.

Sheinside Deer Necklace.  Though the chain seemed far too long (it hung much lower on me, and I found a way to refasten it so that it now hangs at the length pictured) when I received this in the mail, this statement necklace is one of the few I've purchased.  While I never shy away from an exciting fashion piece, for some reason that train of thought has never translated over to necklaces.  I love unique things, but I always think that the statement necklaces I see are too over the top and would only work with certain outfits and I almost never buy them.

Forever 21 Sailboat Scarf.  What an adorable print!  I mean how could I resist when I was watching sailboats sail by in the midst of this outfit shoot?!

Forever 21 Cream Tee. Standard and oh-so-comfortable.

Old Navy Jeggings.

Wal-Mart Boots. (similar)

  1. WOW. I've been eyeing that necklace for a while but had no idea how to wear it/what to wear it with. You did great. These photos are stunning... such beautiful backgrounds!

    1. Thank you!! :) I think the necklace is pretty versatile, it could go with a more pared back look and yet it works kind of embracing the uniqueness too. I wish I could have spent forever up there listening to the waves!
