Rainy October

Today I headed out to shoot this post and was greeted by the pitter patter of a thousand rain drops hitting the pavement.  After some initial grievances, I decided to venture out despite the drops — they weren't so bad that I couldn't use an umbrella to cover all the electronics.  There is something wonderfully peaceful about walking in the rain.  It is a feeling I've always cherished.   Back when I  used to walk home from high school after it had rained, I would take off my shoes and walk right through the puddles.  I think it had something to do with some sort of symbolic life theory wherein I wanted to feel the water between my toes instead of avoiding the puddles.

I think I got over that pretty quick when I went down to college, because Champaign has a much worse drainage system.  When it rains in Champaign the streets fill with water like rivers, and your toe/water relationship becomes pretty inevitable.  Your shoe/ water relationship and pants/water relationship, and sometimes backpack/water relationship become pretty solid too.  All resulting in everything lying out in your postage stamp bedroom for days to dry out.  Needless to say my puddle/love relationship was on the rocks.

Nonetheless, today's adventure was a nice reminder of my puddle-loving days.

The Outfit and About it:

Forever 21 knit cream sweater.   I bought this this past spring when I realized that I found myself looking for a piece like this to pair with a lot of my outfits.  It is an odd piece because it is almost always too warm to wear in warm weather, and not very protective in cold weather, so early fall is when it works best.

Forever 21 high-waisted shorts.  I have some sort of weird obsession with high-waisted things, and shorts/ rompers that have similar cuts like this.  I think it is an homage to retro-style shorts and things.  I also think the print is perfect for fall.

Forever 21 golden bird necklace.  This necklace is consequently also a locket.  I used to keep tic tacs in it when I'd wear it, until I realized that I play with the charm too much when I wear it and almost always end up losing the tic tacs before getting the chance to enjoy them.
