Cooks vs. Bakers

Something I've come to notice as of late is the tendency for those of us foodies out there to either have a gravitation towards cooking or baking.

A lot of times, someone may love the creativity of cooking, but shy away from the rigidity of baking, or vice versa.

I'm personally more of a baker.

I love knowing that if I mix a certain ratio of ingredients together, it will thicken and can be baked at a certain temperature for a certain length of time.   I then have fun getting to decorate and enhance it with toppings.

The complexity and variability of cooking is not as comforting to me as it is for others.

Those who love to cook revel in the wide array of techniques and variables to cook different things, and feel comfort in more lenient cooking times and measurements of ingredients.

This is of course a very broad observation of both disciplines, and I do take note of the fact I am a master of neither.  But I tend to see people steering toward one or the other and it's a somewhat curious phenomenon that I find intriguing.

So which are you, if either?

Do you love the safety of baking or revel in the possibilities of cooking more?

Until Next Time,
