PNWonderland May 2019: Cannon Beach, OR

I chose to blog this one separately because it was kind of a mini-trip itself within our pnw adventure as a whole.  This day at Cannon Beach was so perfect and peaceful.

For your info, Cannon Beach is a 1.5 hour drive from the City of Portland, so it is the perfect day trip if you're visiting Portland for a bit.   The drive out was hilly and wind-y, but it was also incredibly beautiful.

I am so excited to share today's post with you lovelies!

We're nearing the year mark of living in this apartment, and one of our favorite features of it was the surprise outdoor space.  When we were touring places, an outdoor area wasn't even on our list of must

Building a Spring Capsule Wardrobe

Welcome to The Lovely Red Fox's edition of 'How to build a capsule wardrobe'.

I've been so interested in this concept for a while; I'm always intrigued by those able to boil their wardrobe down to only a select number of clothing items.

My Weight Loss Journey

Among the list of a number of things I've changed in my life in the past year is getting out and doing something active on more days.  I hesitate to say every day, but I think I can confidently say that being active has become a more central part of my life.

Easter is right around the corner (in a few days, in fact!), and in the springy spirit of it, I thought I would share some of my favorite cakes for the season.  These little baked wonders have got me dreaming of tea parties and brunches!

Poshmark Preview!

I've been doing a little bit of spring cleaning and re-organizing here at our house, and that includes cleaning through and letting go of some wardrobe items!  For the next few weeks I'll be listing some items over on my Poshmark shop for others to shop!

I've got a lot of fun spring items that I'm ready to let find new homes, and I'm excited for them to go

Gardens In Winter

We recently took a winter trip out to see the Chicago Botanic Gardens in the winter.  While it was busier than I thought it would be, it did seem like most people were flocking to the indoor orchid show.  While we didn't stick around to experience that, we did visit some of the outdoor gardens and get a good little walk in.

Confession Time: My Acne Struggle

Hi there lovelies!

Today I want to talk about something that's a little difficult for me to talk about.  While I may seem pretty confident (or at least fairly confident) on the outside, the truth is I am just like every other person with their share of insecurities.

Slow Living: What it Means to me and Why I Decided Burnout and Stress Weren't Cool Anymore

A little while ago I stopped and asked myself, "when did I become this person?"

This stressed out, burnt out, irritable person.

I wondered to myself how I got to the point where I was so "busy", that it didn't seem I was prioritizing anything that was actually important to me.  I was pushing myself through my everyday, hoping that if I

Olive You

The downside of this winter in Chicago is the freezing temperatures and the constant precipitation.  It seems that every other day is a massive snowfall and many trips outdoors are treacherous for driving.  But the upside is that almost every other day is an opportunity to get some great outfit photos in some freshly

Wardrobe Woes

My favorite fringy jacket that I love so much, and my favorite victorian style blouse.

For today's post I wanted to address something I've been feeling for a while now.  It's centered around how I feel about my own wardrobe and the items in my closet, and possibly others out there may feel this as well.  There is some differing and conflicting opinions out there as to how we go about building a wardrobe.  If you buy "too much" you could be seen as frivolous, even if you buy all of it at a bargain, or conversely if you

Bathroom Reveal

Hey there lovelies!!!

Boy has this one been a long time coming.  Not only do I feel like it's really been far too long of a timeline on sharing our house updates with you guys, but this one feels like it has been years in the making.  Back in 2016 I posted a before post that featured a before picture of the bathroom at our old apartment, and a mood board for what I planned to do with it design wise...

Freezing in the Midwest

It's a cold Midwest out there as of late.  It's such a strange experience visiting the beach during this time of year.  Most people don't think of taking a trip to the beach during the colder months, but I love it because it completely transforms into a very different place.  The crunch of frozen sand mixed with ice is a odd

Wandering in Winter

I wanted to take today's space on the blog to give a bit of quiet — on the mornings we walk a lot of the time I'm in awe of the simple beauty of nature and the seasons shifting.  I wanted to share with you today some of the natural beauty I've been enjoying while we've been wandering in winter.

It's Uphill for Oddities

I feel like I've always marched to the rhythm of my own drum.   I've never wanted to be the 'mainstream' or the status quo, I've always just strived to do what felt 'right' regardless of if it was the road less traveled or

Fondue Date

If you're looking for a great little tradition to start this Valentine's, fondue is a great way to go.  Andrew and I usually make fondue as a tradition for New Year's Eve, but it would also work great for a Valentine's date night with your significant other, or a great Galentine's get together with your gal pals!

Reverie in Blue

We're having quite the seasonal shift here in the midwest — one day it's 30 degrees subzero with piles of snow topping a foot high, and the next it's 42 degrees and melting away.  On the day of this shoot it was the

Valentine's Home Decor

This time of year is always a little bit of limbo in the home.  We recently had some family over for dinner and I realized: A. that I needed to take down the Christmas tree, and B. I didn't know how to decorate the house.  After the decor explosion that is Christmas, it seems like you take everything down and suddenly

Destination Wedding Planning — 6 Months Out

Photo taken by Kristen Marie Parker
Just now emerging from the holiday season madness of 2018, I'm starting to look to 2019 and all of the great things in store for us this year.  I thought it might be an apt time for me to write a little update on our wedding planning, as we are now 6 months out.  I realized that I've only posted about  the planning one

Blustery Boughs

I mentioned in my last outfit post how things don't always go how you plan them.  Well this shoot would probably be the epitome of that sentiment.  I originally wore this outfit to a family event and loved it so much that I wanted to make an outfit post out of it.  I'm not one for frequently showing denim looks, but I

Snow - Scapades

The process of planning and shooting one of these outfit series is always interesting — sometimes you have a detailed plan that goes just how you think it will, and sometimes 1,000 things get in the way of your vision.  In this particular instance, I planned, changed my mind at the last second, and then ended up

Activewear in My Cart

Hey there everybody!

In 2018 I realized some important things, including that I needed to take care of my body a little better and pay attention when it was trying to tell me things.  As a part of this realization, my fiance Andrew and I started walking on our free mornings.  We vowed that if we both had the morning off and had no other

2018 Year in Review

Whew!  It has been a long time since I wrote one of these.  I went to go look at some past Year in Reviews and realized that the last one I actually did was for 2015.  That's insane!  So here we are, getting back into
