You've Got Mail

I am always drawn to the quirky, the strange trend, the funky accessory, and sometimes they all come together and create something that I wasn't quite expecting to start with.  This outfit was one of those
times.   A while ago I had put together this outfit for work one day because I wanted to try a different way to wear a scarf.  I Loved this boat scarf but I really didn't have a whole lot of outfits that matched well with it because I am notoriously drawn to Prints and thus my closet is a bunch of prints and it's very hard to mix them.

Somehow I had come up with the double knot under the collar as you see pictured, and I'm still really crazy about that; I think it's a really fun way to wear a scarf.  It makes it seem like a tie, but a little bit more fun and free.  There's more movement with it, and it has a schoolgirl vibe that I love.   I wore the outfit to work and got a few compliments and I really liked it so I thought that I would use it on the blog.  Five minutes before we went out to shoot this post I was trying to figure out what kind of bag I would take with, and picked up the envelope clutch because it had blue in it and I thought it would match well.

I went to look in the mirror before we left and that's when it dawned on me:  this outfit is totally quirky cute post office, and completely unintentionally so.  And I love it.

The Outfit and About it:

Forever 21 boat scarf. This is one of my favorite scarves.  I am always in love with nautical themed accessories and clothes, and I love the blue and pink colors on this scarf.  Sometimes I struggle with how to style scarves, but I recently came up with this tie-under-the-collar method and I think its working out!

Forever 21 striped blue collared button down. I love menswear inspired pieces, but I always feel like they look a little strange on me.  This is one of the few ways that I've decided actually works for me — styling it with a skater silhouette makes it look a little more girly.

Sheinside collar clips.  As always, loving the vintage-inspired accessories.

Goodwill suspenders.

Payless shoes.

Forever 21 Acid Wash Skater Skirt.

This Loves That Clutch.
