Review: The Historic Requa Inn, Klamath CA

During our stay in the Redwoods, our base camp was the Historic Requa Inn.   It was a beautiful Bed and Breakfast (which I am now obsessed with, and will heretofore seek out on trips) that overlooks the
Klamath river, very near where it opens up to the ocean.  The staff were very friendly and accommodating, and we loved our stay.  Each morning we woke and went down stairs to breakfast where we were served a lovely breakfast with choices for eggs, pancakes, toast, etc., and they also had mimosas!   This was always a wonderful way to start our days, and then we would head back up, finish getting ready and start our adventures.

Each of the rooms at the inn are decorated in a different vintage theme, and all are breathtaking.  We stayed in Cathedral Trees for the first few nights, and Carruthers Cove for the tail end of our stay.  Both were beautiful and dreamy, and like you just stepped into a cozy room of your own home.  Seriously, I'm looking to their design aesthetic for future bedrooms in my life.

And last but certainly not least, the dinners.  It was wonderful coming back to the inn after a long day adventuring, cleaning up for dinner, and sitting down to a family style meal with fellow travelers.  We met so many people from different places passing through, visiting the trees.  From two sisters from the Nevada deserts, to a couple traveling the west coast all the way from the UK, to a journalist/ Urban Outfitters Buyer couple from Philly moving out to California and taking their time getting there.  It's inspiring talking to all these people, exploring this incredible planet we live on.  And the food was top notch as well.  Wonderful appetizers with smoked salmon, creme fraiche spread, and fresh canadian bacon (fresh! I've never had any other than the round ones from the grocery store!  It was so good!), an excellent dish with carrots, cauliflower, and farro (love farro!), Pork tenderloin, and for dessert, a brown butter almond cake with huckleberry sauce!  Um, can you say yum???

We loved our stay at the Requa Inn, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone traveling
in the area.
