There is something very humbling about standing next to a tree that has been alive for over 1,000 years. We've been back from our trip to the Redwoods for a few weeks now, but these trees are still on my mind. Our first day in California we hiked 12 miles, out and back to a canyon of ferns. While this endeavor was on one hand a little hasty, being that we come from a land of flat cornfields and I don't even contemplate regular exercise, but I don't regret it at all. It was an awesome experience diving headfirst into the middle of an ancient forest covered with ferns!
It seemed that every time we turned a corner there was a new spectacular sight to see. It was a forest made up of rolling hills covered in ferns and towering giant trees. It was incredible.
