Throwback thursday: A Feathery First

This throwback post is dedicated to the first of many handmade hat creations and the outfits that accompanied them.  This little plaid hat with god trim and friendly blue buttons was the first hat I ever crafted.  Years of vintage collecting and a rigorous semester in design lead me to the creation of this hat and the dozens more that followed.  Though my millinery tools may be tucked away in the depths of my crafting supplies for now, I still have a passion for my little feathery friends.

The Outfit and About it:

Forever 21 ruffled blouse.   I have had this blouse for quite some time, though I couldn't say how new it was when these photos were taken.  I love shirts with lots of detailing, as they make for a fun time ironing (did I mention that ironing is my guilty pleasure? Seriously, I like really enjoy ironing.).

H & M vest. I bought this during high school, and have love love loved it ever since.  It is the perfect piece to bridge the gap between casual and dressy, and it can be passed off in either scenario.

Forever 21 military style shorts.  Who doesn't love military style buttons on shorts?  I mean really.

Simply Vera tights.  One of many of my favorite pairs of tights from Simply Vera.

Lovely Red Fox hat.  Handmade by me!
