Snow Dust

My favorite snows are the ones where the flakes come down soft and silently, lightly dusting the world in a fluffy snow blanket.  The ones that make everything seem as if the world has stopped somehow, and you are silently padding along through, somehow trespassing on this land of complete silence.   It's days like these that I like to break out the big, warm, oversized sweaters and layer even that with a nice furry coat.  I always disliked marshmallow coats because I didn't like resembling a giant smore's ingredient, but you can't dislike the warmth they provide.   I try to replicate that warmth with other coats by bundling up with winter scarves and sweaters.  Finding coats that have wool in them can be helpful with this as well.   It seems to have proven to be a successful tactic since the only part of me that was freezing toward the end of this shoot was my hands (because I need them out of gloves to configure things on the camera!)!

The Outfit and About it:

Forever 21 coat.  I bought this coat for Christmas this year, and I wear it almost every day.  The long length provides added protection from the cold, and the furry hood is stylish and also warming as well.   I love the toggle closure and the fact that the neckline comes all the way up to the top of the coat, sealing in body heat.  I believe it is on sale now, so get it while it lasts!

Banana Republic Sweater (Goodwill). Found this at Goodwill and fell in love with the knitting pattern across the chest.  It seems like the perfect winter sweater, though it was a bit too big for me.   I resolved to treat it as an oversized piece, and I think it definitely works styled in such a way.

Forever 21 Arrow Necklace (similar). Also adds to the woodsy/ wintry vibe.

Forever 21 Denim Skirt.  I believe this skirt may be my first foray into acid washed denim, and I'm loving it.
