Living Room Progress

Sometimes I forget that I haven't shared things on this blog.  Our living room has come a long way since my original post about it, but its been little things here and there so I haven't done any of the
individual project posts for it (they are coming don't you worry for a moment!).  So I definitely think its time to share how far we've come!  Its certainly not done yet, but There have been a lot of changes happening, and truth be told, some of these changes happened months ago. Sorryyyy....

So drumroll please....

Ta daaa!  Again, not totally done, that chair is not staying lime green and I'm hiding half of the room from you because its just so not worthy for the interwebs right now, but the furniture arrangement has been set since spring and a lot of the major purchases are said and done.

It definitely has not been all peaches and cream, either.  I had a gorgeous glass top coffee table (you can see the top of it all patched up and hoping for a miracle in the before pictures) that got broken and would have cost $600+ to repair so I had to say goodbye to one of the most focal elements in the room, and as it stands that fabric on the arm of the chair is no longer available through Jo-Ann fabrics so I may have to find another alternative (it took me so long to decide on that one!!).  Regardless though, it has been an awesome journey and I'm so excited about how far this room has come.

I think possibly the most important decision I had to make in this process was going for the correct size rug.  It can be oh so tempting to cut costs and opt for a smaller rug.

I can just put the rug so that it covers the table area, right?

The couch doesn't actually need to be all on does it?

NO.  Stop these thoughts before they ruin your living room.

Choosing a smaller rug will make your living room feel truncated and small.  The rug for you is out there, you just need to go and find it.  I found mine at Target, and it was a steal for its size.  I also was very adamant about choosing a rug that was light in color, so as to reflect more light around the room.  We have very large windows, but they face inside a courtyard so we want all that good sunlight hanging around everywhere!  And really who doesn't want a sun-soaked living room?

We got this great piece from Target as well, to add some height to the room (everything was all at the same, low level).  It's actual pine, so it smells amazing, and was very easy to put together.  I keep restyling it, and I don't think I've quite hit the jackpot yet so this will also change.  I love each of the shelves individually, but as a whole its too chaotic.  I need some larger pieces to balance out the details.

That's all for now, folks. Happy Styling!
