The Lovely Red Fox: Year in Review: 2015

It's that time of year again — where we look back at the challenges and opportunities we've had in the past year, learn from our mistakes, and make an all new set of exciting plans for the future. I've had a pretty good 2015; I had some great experiences, and I feel like I'm changing and growing all
the time. I discovered some great cooking adventures with the help of Blue Apron, pushed my interior styling skills to new levels, and even climbed a mountain! I saw whales, found some awesome vintage and small vendor buys, tried a lot of fashion trends outside of my comfort zone, and saw the ocean for the first time in a decade. This life continues to challenge me and push me to make the most of every moment.

Winter

In the beginning of 2015, as it always is during the winter, I didn't get a whole lot of time to blog (it's just so darn cold and the sun is so elusive!), but I did get some great ootds in. Form visiting frosty beaches, to wandering in the woods, winter is a great time of year to pile on the layers and get kind of crazy with your outfitting!

Another major thing that happened in the winter of 2015 was my mood boarding and embarking on our living room project. While it is still not totally completed (when is a home ever really 'done'?), it has come such a long way from where it began. The late winter was really when I was able to get all the furniture sorted and arranged, and I finished off the birch curtain rod project!

Spring/ Early Summer

Transitioning into spring is always fun, getting to pull out all your lightweight, fresh pieces, and having fun with lace, crochet and flower crowns is a must! I had a blast putting together these spring lay downs, and even though there is currently snow on the ground, these make me want to go lie on the beach with a good book and sand in my toes without a care.

This spring I also had the wonderful opportunity to take some engagement photos for a friend of mine from college, on a beautiful sun drenched day in the city. The whole day was like something out of a fairytale.

Easter brought out the crafter in me, and I got to use this adorable little guy I bought at Anthropologie to be an MVP in our Easter tablescapes. I love being in charge of centerpieces! I got to incorporate some fun garlands I made, dishes from my grandparents' cabin, and a carrot pin craft into the holiday as well!

Drew and I always love to explore during the spring and summer, visit the lake, eat great food, and see new places! This summer on our 7 year anniversary we went to the zoo and saw lots of cool animals, including this adorable fox!

The early summer also brought on some fun outfit posts, particularly inspired by our upcoming trip to the east coast. I really got into the whole "coastal" thing, and had strong feels for primary colors and also florals and crop tops!

Summer

Summer really went into full swing when Drew, Drew's Dad, and I took a trip to Acadia National Park in Maine. Sunsoaked days climbing mountains and eating lobster feasts at sunset were magically complemented by fog covered hikes through cliffs and blueberry sodas at lunchtime. The sights were incredible and the whole trip really struck a chord with me — I want to explore so much now. I want to see what's out there in this incredible world we live in.

This summer was especially sunny, and I couldn't help but feel inclined to add some gold touches to my outfits. Whether it was a little bit of bohemian, or a quirky mail inspired outfit, I kept my wardrobe fun this summer and embraced the season.

Towards the end of the summer, I started my 100 Days of Blogging initiative, which was a challenge to myself and my creativity to continuously blog for 100 days straight. While I didn't make it all the way to the 100 day mark, I did make it pretty far and I intend to come back with a strong persistence in 2016. This initiative really made a lot of things fall into place for me and I think it was really important that I launched it. It taught me to be more organized, purposeful, and diligent. It forced me to really think about how I spent my time (Do I really need to watch that episode of xyz on Netflix right now, or should I take advantage of the time to plan my shoot tomorrow?), and make solid choices. I plan on breathing new life into it asap.

The summer brought lots of changes to our apartment design process too. I went to town on our couch with a pair of pliers and some great navy blue corduroy when I reupholstered it, and I pulled together a celestial southwestern printed space in the bedroom with the help of some metallic vinyl wall clings. Other great apartment revelations included an eating nook with a great coral art piece, and a rope swag light fixture.

This summer's Renegade Craft Fair was a blast, and I found a number of awesome additions to both home and wardrobe with a great Dear Creatures dress and the discovery of Driftless magazine.

Fall

Fall is always a great time for fashion, especially for a girl like me that has a serious love affair with plaid. I started the season off with these plaid lay downs, getting ready for all the plaid outfitting to come.

There were also a lot of fun changes happening in the apartment, including a reveal of the furniture arrangement (finally!), a new coffee table, styling tips for your couch and coffee table, and oh so much fun with pillows and throw blankets! I also did some fun styling transitions from late summer to fall, only using accessories!

This fall I went a little crazy with the whole ootd thing (in a good way I think!), and added a little quirkiness and a little preppiness to the picture (lol, puns, amiright?).

Finally, no Fall is complete without a really great exploration of the colorama of trees. We went on a number of walks in the forest, and I fell in love with the trees over and over again.
